On the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Safe City has launched a counseling service for individuals suffering from mental stress.
According to details, a dedicated facility has been introduced for people facing mental stress through the Punjab Emergency Helpline 15. In cases of mental stress, anxiety, hopelessness, or suicidal thoughts, citizens can dial Emergency Helpline 15 and press 7.
According to the Safe City spokesperson, Safe City immediately connects the affected citizen with expert and specialized psychologists through a conference call. Timely counseling by professional psychologists is helping save valuable human lives.
In the year 2025, a total of 2,327 calls related to suicide or severe mental stress were received. With timely counseling, expert psychologists, and prompt assistance from the police, 2,269 individuals were prevented from attempting suicide. The success rate of the Punjab Emergency Helpline 15 counseling service remained 98 percent.
Among the received calls, 56 percent were from men while 44 percent were from women. The major cause of suicide was domestic disputes, with 48 percent of calls reporting marital discord and family issues.
The Safe City spokesperson appealed to the public not to delay in cases of mental stress or suicidal thoughts, to call 15 and press 7, adding that the identity and information of the caller are kept strictly confidential during counseling.
