Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif issued a special message on the occasion of World Kidney Day, saying that more than 850 million people worldwide are suffering from kidney diseases, which is a matter of concern.

‎Maryam Nawaz Sharif praised the spirit of all individuals who donate kidneys and paid them great tribute. She also called for encouraging primary care physicians and providing them with support.

‎The Chief Minister said that drinking clean water, exercising, and adopting a healthy diet help control kidney diseases. Kidney Day provides awareness about a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, and regular kidney checkups, and also provides information about the treatment of kidney failure and other complications.

‎Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that free treatment facilities are being provided for kidney patients across Punjab and a transplant card has been introduced for the authentic treatment of complex kidney diseases. In addition, the annual treatment limit for dialysis patients has been increased to 1 million rupees, benefiting thousands of patients.

‎The Chief Minister also appreciated the hard work and dedication of doctors, nurses, and other medical staff and said that dialysis services in government hospitals are being improved with the cooperation of the private sector and modern machinery is being provided. A free dialysis program has been launched to relieve kidney patients from financial burden, and these measures are very important for promoting a healthy and fulfilling life.
