The number of HIV patients in the country has come to light.

‎Details regarding the number of HIV AIDS patients were presented during a session of the National Assembly. The written details were submitted by Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal.

‎According to the Health Minister, approximately 84,421 HIV AIDS patients are registered in Pakistan, and AIDS patients have been registered under the National AIDS Control Program.

‎The Federal Health Minister stated that the majority of AIDS patients are in Punjab and Sindh, while free antiretroviral therapy is being provided through 98 treatment centers.

‎It is worth noting that AIDS is a disease that spreads from one person to another, and no cure has been discovered so far.

‎This deadly disease is transmitted through unsafe sexual relations, homosexuality, the use of used syringes, blades, razors, non sterilized dental instruments, and other sources.

‎AIDS caused by incorrect injections:

‎It has been revealed that 84 patients contracted the incurable and deadly disease AIDS due to the use of incorrect syringes at a government hospital in Karachi.

‎This incident occurred at Valika Hospital, where patients who visited last year were injected using used syringes.

‎Notably, the affected patients, who had come to the hospital for treatment of various illnesses, were unaware of the use of used syringes. When hospital authorities became aware, they traced the patients and shifted them to different hospitals for treatment.

‎In this regard, Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal stated that 84 individuals contracted AIDS due to the use of incorrect syringes at Valika Hospital. As soon as the matter came to light, the DG Health was informed, the affected individuals were traced, tested, and are now being provided with medication.

‎Earlier, Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal informed the Standing Committee on Health that under the National AIDS Program, approximately 300 to 500 US dollars are spent annually per patient.
