A total of 334 people have been diagnosed with AIDS in Taunsa city of Punjab, including 331 children under the age of 12.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir confirmed in a press conference that continuous AIDS screening is underway at the THQ hospital in Taunsa, and more than 50,000 suspected individuals have been screened so far.
He said that 334 people in Taunsa have been diagnosed with AIDS, including 331 children under the age of 12.
Punjab Health and Population Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir said that all these patients have been provided treatment. He added that the use of auto lock syringes has been initiated, volunteers are not allowed in hospitals, and that 10 cc syringes are not used, instead 2 cc and 5 cc syringes are used.
Khawaja Imran Nazir said that in the matter of AIDS, if any negligence is found among Punjab government employees, accountability will be ensured, adding that such sensitive matters should not be politicized.
He further said that 32 cases of monkeypox have been reported in Punjab so far and no deaths have been reported.
