The Art & Craft Exhibition organized by the Department of Architecture and Civil Technology at Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT), Karachi, drew significant attention from both academic and creative communities. The vibrant event featured participation from approximately 70 students, who showcased their talents through paintings, architectural models, and innovative craftwork.

More than 50 creative pieces were displayed, reflecting a remarkable fusion of art and technology. Visitors and guests highly appreciated the students’ efforts and artistic expression. The exhibition was divided into four categories, with model-making and creative design emerging as standout highlights in the craft section. The event was formally inaugurated by the Principal of AIT, Shahid Jamil.

The judging panel was led by renowned fine artist and design studio instructor Sania Arif, an internationally acclaimed artist who has represented Pakistan in 22 countries. With numerous awards to her name, her work has been featured at the Winter Olympics and in China’s National Museum. She brings over 19 years of experience in the field of art.

The chief guest of the event was Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan, Chairman of the Governing Body and Chancellor of Sir Syed University. Other distinguished attendees included Convener Syed Muhammad Mohsin Kazim and Principal Shahid Jamil. At the conclusion of the exhibition, outstanding students were recognized with prizes and cash awards in appreciation of their exceptional work.

In his address, Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan praised the students’ creativity, noting that their achievements reflect both their dedication and the support of their families. He emphasized that such platforms enable students to build their identity at national and international levels.

Principal Shahid Jamil described the exhibition as a reflection of the institution’s academic excellence and the creative potential of its students. Convener Syed Muhammad Mohsin Kazim highlighted a notable increase in admissions to the Architecture program this year, attributing it partly to such engaging and enriching activities. Although not part of the formal curriculum, these initiatives play a vital role in students’ creative, intellectual, and practical development.

Head of the Department of Architecture and Civil Technology, Miss Madiha  Younis, reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to providing world-class education alongside practical skills, enabling students to excel on a global platform.

Students also regarded the exhibition as a valuable opportunity to showcase their talents and build confidence. The event concluded on a celebratory note, with the Architecture Department’s social media team receiving a special shield in recognition of their outstanding performance.
