Power utility K-Electric (KE) said it has initiated an inspection following reports of an alleged electricity theft incident in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 13-D.
According to a company spokesperson, KE teams conducted a site visit to assess the situation after receiving complaints regarding illegal connections and potential tampering with power infrastructure in the area. Initial findings are being reviewed to determine the extent of the violation.
“Ensuring a fair and reliable power supply remains our priority. Any instance of theft or meter tampering is taken seriously and dealt with under applicable laws,” the spokesperson said.
The utility added that, if violations are confirmed, it will proceed with legal action against those involved, which may include disconnection of supply, penalties, and filing of cases with law enforcement authorities.
Electricity theft remains a persistent issue in parts of Karachi, contributing to line losses and service disruptions. KE has in recent years intensified its anti-theft drives, including surveillance, inspections, and community reporting mechanisms.
Residents of the area have been urged to cooperate with authorities and report any suspicious activity to help ensure uninterrupted and equitable electricity distribution.
