The National Emergency Operations Centre has released the report on the second national anti polio campaign.
According to the report, the polio vaccination rate remained above average across all regions of the country. During the campaign, 44.8 million children were administered polio vaccines, while vaccination teams achieved access to 99 percent of households at the federal and provincial levels. A total of 400,000 frontline workers were mobilized to deliver vaccines door to door.
The report states that 23 million children were vaccinated in Punjab, 10.4 million in Sindh, 7.235 million in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 2.621 million in Balochistan. In Islamabad, 441,000 children were vaccinated, while 292,000 children received vaccines in Gilgit Baltistan.
According to the report, 717,000 children were administered polio drops in Azad Kashmir. Incidents of refusal to receive the polio vaccine decreased by 20 percent, while the rate of refusal in communities remained below 0.15 percent. Children who were previously missed were reached again through door to door efforts.
