The World Health Organization has confirmed hantavirus infection in five crew members of the affected ship.
WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus shared details regarding the matter during a press briefing.
The head of the global health body said that hantavirus has been confirmed in five out of eight crew members of the MV Hondius cruise.
WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus further said that the wider public health risk from the outbreak remains low. He added that due to the virus’s long incubation period, more hantavirus cases could emerge.
