An MoU has been signed between the Ministry of Health and NADRA to strengthen the digital system of the Prime Minister’s Hepatitis C Elimination Program.
The signing ceremony of the MoU was held at NADRA headquarters and was attended by Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal and NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar.
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal stated that under the agreement, NADRA will work with the Ministry of Health to develop an integrated digital data management system for the program.
Mustafa Kamal said that patient registration, verification, tracking, and real time data sharing will be ensured, adding that the Prime Minister’s Hepatitis C Elimination Program is a national flagship initiative.
The Federal Health Minister said that the number of Hepatitis C patients in Pakistan is approximately 10 million and that Pakistan is currently among the countries most affected by Hepatitis C in the world.
He said that there is a firm commitment to eliminate Hepatitis C by 2030 and that timely diagnosis of Hepatitis C is essential. He added that practical and effective measures are being ensured for the elimination of Hepatitis C.
Mustafa Kamal said that under the Hepatitis C program, timely screening, diagnosis, and treatment are being ensured, while the initial launch of the Hepatitis C program will take place next week in Islamabad.
