Karachi is rapidly becoming a “city of heart patients,” with an average of 103 people being admitted to hospitals daily due to heart attacks.
What is particularly alarming is that, in addition to older individuals, a growing number of young people in the city are also falling victim to this life threatening disease. The report has raised serious concerns.
A report by Tabba Heart Institute revealed that 74,347 people suffered heart attacks in Karachi during the year 2025 alone. These figures have also alarmed medical experts.
According to the data, among patients suffering heart attacks each day, 10 are under the age of 40, while two patients are even younger than 30 years of age. Experts say the rising rate of heart disease among young people is a dangerous warning sign for the future.
The report stated that from 2016 to March 2026, a total of 407,503 heart patients were reviewed over a period of 10 years. Among them, 8 percent were aged 40 years or younger, while 2 percent were under the age of 30.
Medical experts have warned that the major causes of heart attacks at a young age include smoking, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, elevated blood cholesterol levels, and a lack of physical activity.
According to experts, if citizens do not change their lifestyles, the situation could become even more dangerous in the coming years.
