Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has responded to remarks by Nawaz Sharif, saying that the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are not prepared to compromise or “bargain away their rights.”

Bilawal stressed that the people of AJK have legitimate political, constitutional and economic rights that cannot be traded for short-term political interests. His remarks came in response to Nawaz Sharif’s recent statement, bringing the issue of the rights and status of the people of Azad Kashmir back into the political spotlight.

The PPP chairman maintained that the concerns and demands of the people of AJK must be addressed through meaningful dialogue and democratic engagement. He emphasized that any decisions affecting the region should take into account the aspirations and interests of its people.

Bilawal’s statement reflects the ongoing political debate over the rights of the people of AJK and the responsibilities of political leadership toward the region. He argued that the people of Azad Kashmir should not be expected to surrender their fundamental rights as part of any political arrangement or negotiation.

The remarks are likely to intensify the political discussion surrounding AJK, particularly as major political parties continue to present different positions on the region’s political, constitutional and economic issues.
