Karachi: The Government of Sindh has restored the six-day school week for public and private educational institutions across the province, ending the temporary five-day schedule that had been introduced earlier this year as part of austerity measures. The decision was taken to ensure the timely completion of the academic calendar and improve learning outcomes.
Under the revised schedule, schools will now remain open from Monday to Saturday, while Sunday will be the weekly holiday. Education officials said the restoration of Saturday classes will help schools make up for instructional time lost during previous closures and keep academic activities on track.
The School Education and Literacy Department has directed all public and private schools to immediately implement the revised working week and ensure strict compliance with the updated notification. School administrations have also been asked to inform students, parents, and teaching staff about the change in the weekly schedule.
The provincial government stated that the earlier five-day week had been introduced as a temporary measure and that the return to a six-day schedule is aimed at strengthening academic continuity and ensuring students receive the required classroom instruction during the ongoing academic year.
