The investigation into the targeted killing of Mir Raza Ali took a sharp turn Tuesday after investigators secured high-definition CCTV footage from the crime scene. The video, retrieved from a private security camera near the site of the attack, provides the clearest look yet at the two men responsible for the shooting.
The footage shows the duo on a black 125cc motorcycle, idling near the intersection minutes before Ali arrived. As the victim’s vehicle slowed, the passenger—a man wearing a distinct red-and-black windbreaker—stepped off the bike. He approached the driver’s side window and fired three rounds before climbing back onto the pillion seat.
Police confirmed the motorcycle’s license plate was obscured by mud, a detail investigators say suggests premeditation. The driver, clad in a dark helmet and leather jacket, remained stationary, engine running, ready for a quick escape.
“We have identified the specific path they took after the shooting,” a senior police official said. “They didn’t just flee; they used side alleys where they knew cameras were either broken or non-existent.”
The murder of Ali, a prominent figure in local trade circles, triggered immediate protests and a complete shutdown of the surrounding commercial district. Family members have been vocal about the delay in police response, pointing to the fact that the assailants spent nearly four minutes in the area before the incident occurred.
Forensic teams are currently enhancing the footage to extract facial features from the driver, whose visor was flipped up at the moment he turned to check for traffic. While the police have yet to release the names of potential suspects, they confirmed that the motorcycle has been linked to a series of recent vehicle thefts in the city’s industrial zone.
For now, the investigation centers on the identity of the passenger. Detectives are cross-referencing the physical description—specifically a visible tattoo on the suspect’s left forearm—with criminal databases.
The victim’s family is expected to hold a press conference Thursday. Until then, the police have tightened security around the crime scene, hoping to catch the suspects if they attempt to return to the area to retrieve a discarded piece of evidence.
