Six people died instantly Tuesday morning when their car slammed into a gas tanker on the Makran Coastal Highway near Gwadar. The force of the collision triggered a fire that engulfed both vehicles, leaving rescue teams struggling to recover the remains.

The victims, all traveling in a single car, were reportedly headed toward Gwadar when the accident occurred. Local police confirm the car veered into the tanker’s path, though the exact cause—whether mechanical failure, driver fatigue, or road conditions—remains under investigation.

“The impact was massive,” said a local police officer stationed near the site. “The fire spread within seconds, giving the passengers no chance to escape.”

Rescue workers pulled the charred bodies from the wreckage shortly after the blaze was brought under control. Identifying the victims has proven difficult due to the severity of the burns, and authorities are currently working to notify families.

The Makran Coastal Highway, a vital link connecting Karachi to Gwadar, has seen a spike in accidents recently. Drivers often face long, monotonous stretches with limited emergency services, making high-speed collisions particularly deadly. Critics have long pointed to the lack of trauma centers and rapid-response units along the route as a critical failure in the highway’s infrastructure.

Traffic on the arterial road remained suspended for several hours as crews cleared the debris and investigated the scene. The road has since reopened, but the incident has reignited calls for stricter enforcement of speed limits and better safety oversight for heavy transport vehicles operating on the route.

For now, the identities of those killed are expected to be released once forensic confirmation is complete. The local administration has promised a full investigation into the crash.
