The Trimbos Institute, the Netherlands’ primary drug monitoring agency, has issued a national “red alert” following the discovery of ecstasy tablets pressed into the likeness of Donald Trump. These pills contain a dangerously high concentration of MDMA, far exceeding the threshold for safe human consumption.

Lab analysis confirmed each tablet carries roughly 200 milligrams of MDMA. For context, an average, safe dose for an adult typically falls between 80 and 100 milligrams. At double the standard potency, these pills carry a significant risk of acute toxicity, including hyperthermia, seizures, and cardiac arrest.

The orange-colored pills, which feature the former U.S. president’s face on the front and his name on the reverse, were identified as part of a batch circulating in the Dutch nightlife scene. The institute’s warning is part of a broader “Red Alert” system used to inform users when substances of extreme danger enter the market.

“The amount of MDMA in these specific tablets is exceptionally high,” a spokesperson for the institute said. “Users often underestimate the impact of such dosages, especially when combined with alcohol or high-energy environments like festivals or clubs.”

This isn’t the first time political figures have appeared on illicit substances. Similar tablets have surfaced in European markets over the last several years, often marketed to attract attention through novelty or “meme” culture. However, law enforcement officials warn that the branding is purely a marketing tactic by underground labs, often signaling inconsistent production quality.

The Dutch authorities are urging anyone who has purchased these specific pills to dispose of them immediately at designated chemical waste collection points. They are also reminding the public that there is no “safe” way to consume street-bought pills, as there is no way for a user to know the chemical composition or binding agents used in the manufacturing process.

For those who have already ingested the substance and are experiencing symptoms—such as extreme agitation, racing heart, or confusion—the institute advises immediate medical intervention.

With festival season ongoing across Europe, the agency expects more of these high-dose tablets to appear in circulation. The red alert remains in effect until further notice, as health officials continue to track the distribution patterns of this specific batch.
