A local court in Lahore extended the physical remand of the two primary suspects in the Hina Javed murder case by another four days on Tuesday. The extension comes as investigators struggle to recover the murder weapon and establish a definitive motive for the killing.

The suspects, who were brought to the district courts under heavy security, remained tight-lipped as police requested additional time to complete forensic analysis on mobile devices seized during the initial arrest. The investigating officer told the court that the ongoing probe requires more time to cross-reference statements provided by the suspects with digital evidence.

Hina Javed was found dead in her residence last week, a discovery that triggered widespread outcry and calls for a swift investigation. Initial autopsy reports confirmed the cause of death was blunt force trauma, though police have yet to confirm if the incident was premeditated or the result of a sudden altercation.

Defense attorneys argued that the extension is unnecessary, claiming their clients have cooperated fully since the investigation began. They accused the prosecution of using the remand period to apply pressure rather than conduct a transparent inquiry.

The judge dismissed those objections, citing the gravity of the charges and the incomplete nature of the forensic reports. The court ordered the police to produce the suspects again on Saturday, with a stern directive to finalize the investigation by the next hearing.

For the family of the victim, the process remains agonizingly slow. While the extended remand keeps the suspects in custody, the lack of a clear timeline for the final challan—the formal charge sheet—leaves key questions about the night of the incident unanswered.

Investigators are now focusing on a series of phone calls made by the suspects hours before the crime. Whether those logs provide the missing link to a motive remains the central focus for the police team heading into the weekend.
