The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI)-led Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town administration has launched an Education Card 2026 program to provide educational support to students enrolled in public schools.

Under the initiative, more than 600 students from six public schools will receive essential educational supplies, including school uniforms, school bags and stationery.

The programme follows a similar Education Card initiative launched in Gulberg Town. JI has announced plans to expand the programme to benefit around 50,000 students across its nine town administrations in Karachi.

Speaking at the launch, JI Karachi chief Monem Zafar said education remains a central part of the party’s vision for development and reconstruction. He said providing children with quality education and protecting their future is essential for the city’s progress.

Zafar also congratulated the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town chairman, his team and the education department for launching the initiative. He said the restoration and improvement of public schools had remained a priority for JI-led town administrations.

The JI leader further claimed that enrolment in government schools in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town has increased significantly over the past three years. He also criticized successive governments for neglecting the education sector and pointed out that many public schools continue to face shortages of basic facilities.

The Education Card programme is aimed at reducing the financial burden on families by helping students obtain basic educational necessities. JI says the initiative will be expanded further as part of its broader education-focused welfare efforts.
