Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz officially launched the “CM Insulin for Diabetes” initiative on Monday, aimed at supporting children suffering from type-I congenital diabetes.

‎‎As part of the program’s launch, CM Maryam personally visited the homes of diabetic children alongside Pakistan Post riders, where she distributed insulin cards, insulin doses, glucometers, BSR strips, and needles.

‎‎Speaking with the families, she expressed her deep concern for the health and well-being of diabetic children. “I understand the pain and anxiety that children with diabetes and their families go through. This program has been initiated in response to the heartfelt appeals of struggling parents and the urgent needs of their children,” she stated.

‎‎The chief minister emphasized that the initiative falls under the broader vision of “Sehatmand Punjab” (Healthy Punjab) and aims to ensure that no child is left without essential medication due to financial constraints.

‎‎”For the first time, we are not just providing free insulin, but also essential tools like glucometers and test strips,” she said, stressing the importance of children’s health as a top priority. “Children are the future of our nation, and we are committed to using every resource for their well-being. The growing number of diabetes cases among children is extremely alarming.”

‎‎In a briefing, CM Maryam was informed that the first phase of the program will cover 1,500 children, who will receive insulin directly at their doorsteps.

‎‎Pakistan Post will play a vital role in the delivery process. Riders will scan the insulin cards using a special mobile app to verify the recipients before handing over the medicine. The insulin, packed under a cold chain system, will be supplied in three-month batches to ensure consistent care.
