ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s petrol and diesel production and sales figures have been presented in the Senate, highlighting the country’s petroleum production capacity, fuel consumption and supply situation. The figures are important for assessing domestic refinery output and the demand for petroleum products across the country.
According to available petroleum industry data, Pakistan’s refineries produce petrol, high-speed diesel and other petroleum products to meet part of the country’s energy requirements. However, domestic production and sales vary depending on refinery operations, market demand, imports and international oil prices. Recent industry figures show that petrol and diesel sales have fluctuated, reflecting changes in fuel prices and consumption patterns. In September 2026, petrol sales stood at approximately 652,000 tonnes, while high-speed diesel sales reached around 525,000 tonnes, according to industry figures reported by Pakistan Report. Overall petroleum product sales totalled approximately 1.35 million tonnes during the month.
The presentation of petroleum figures in the Senate is significant because fuel production, sales and availability directly affect transportation, agriculture, industrial activity and household expenses. The data also helps lawmakers examine the country’s dependence on imported petroleum products and assess measures to improve domestic refining capacity, ensure transparent fuel distribution and maintain a stable supply.
