ISLAMABAD — October 28, 2026: The federal government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs3.19 per litre while increasing the price of high-speed diesel by Rs2.25 per litre, with the revised rates taking effect on October 28.
According to the Petroleum Division’s notification, petrol is now priced at Rs376.06 per litre, down from Rs379.25. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel has increased from Rs395.82 to Rs398.07 per litre.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the prices under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism, taking into account changes in international petroleum product prices, benchmark rates, premiums and other associated costs.
The reduction in petrol prices may provide limited relief to private vehicle owners, motorcyclists and rickshaw users. However, the increase in diesel prices could raise operating costs for freight transport, buses, agricultural machinery and other diesel-dependent sectors.
Diesel price increases can also put pressure on the prices of goods because transportation costs are an important part of the supply chain.
The latest adjustment reflects continued volatility in the international oil market and its impact on Pakistan’s fuel prices.
