A Karachi court has approved the bail application of journalist and Awam Raj Tehreek chief Iqrar-ul-Hassan in a case registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.

The court directed him to submit surety bonds worth 200,000 rupees and ordered his release after completion of the required legal formalities.

The case relates to allegations of sharing anti-state and defamatory content through social media platforms. These allegations have not yet been established as a conviction.

Iqrar-ul-Hassan had previously been denied bail by a judicial magistrate and a sessions court.

His latest bail approval comes after several weeks in custody and multiple court hearings.

The development has brought a major turn in the high-profile cybercrime case.
