Federal Health Minister and senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, Mustafa Kamal, met with Qatar’s Minister of Public Health, Mansour bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, during his official visit to Doha. In the meeting, he invited Qatar to invest in Pakistan’s pharmaceutical, vaccine, and medical equipment manufacturing sectors.
According to an MQM spokesperson, the Pakistani delegation included Surgeon General Dr. Arshad Naseem and Pakistani diplomat in Qatar, Muhammad Aamir. During the meeting, Mustafa Kamal also requested the Qatari Health Minister to upgrade the classification of Pakistani surgeons in Qatar from Category 3 to Category 1. The Qatari minister assured that the matter would be addressed soon.
As per the spokesperson, once this change is implemented, Pakistani surgeons will no longer be required to take additional exams to practice in Qatar. This development will not only resolve a long-standing issue faced by Pakistani doctors but also fulfill a key demand of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). The upgrade is expected to allow a larger number of Pakistani surgeons to serve in Qatar, contributing to Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves.
Additionally, Mustafa Kamal conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s message of goodwill and mutual cooperation to his Qatari counterpart.
