Hasan Ali Joins Adelaide Strikers for BBL|15, Vows to Bring Firepower to Australian T20 Scene

In a major move for both franchise and player, seasoned Pakistani fast bowler Hasan Ali has officially signed with the Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming 15th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL), marking his debut in Australia’s marquee T20 competition.

The Strikers selected Hasan in the third round of Sunday’s BBL Overseas Player Draft, surprising some observers but thrilling fans eager to see new international talent on Australian pitches. Known for his aggressive pace, animated celebrations, and proven death-over skillset, the 30-year-old promises to bring both energy and experience to the squad.

“Playing in Australia has always been a dream,” Hasan said in a statement released shortly after the draft. “I’ve followed the Big Bash for years, and to finally be part of it, especially with a team like the Strikers, is an honour. I’m ready to give it my all.”

Strikers head coach Tim Paine spoke highly of the decision, noting that Hasan’s versatility and temperament made him an ideal fit for Adelaide’s unique playing conditions.

“Hasan is a proven performer at the international level and in leagues around the world. His ability to swing the ball early and close out games at the death is exactly what we were looking for,” said Paine. “Plus, he brings great energy – he’s a character, and we love that.”

Assistant coach Luke Williams echoed the sentiment, adding that the dimensions of the Adelaide Oval made Hasan an especially valuable acquisition. “Bowling here isn’t easy – you’ve got to be smart and adaptable. Hasan ticks those boxes,” he said.

The timing is also noteworthy. Pakistan’s cricket calendar lines up favorably for Hasan’s BBL stint, giving him the rare window to participate in a full overseas T20 season. It’s also a chance for redemption of sorts: after an up-and-down year internationally, Hasan has been hungry for a new platform to remind the world of his match-winning chops.

Hasan joins a growing list of Pakistani cricketers entering international leagues, continuing a trend fueled by the PCB’s increasingly flexible NOC policy. With the likes of Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan also making waves in past BBL seasons, expectations are high for Hasan to shine.

The Strikers will be banking on his experience in crunch moments—something that could prove invaluable in tight matches come December. Fans, meanwhile, are already buzzing about his trademark “generator” celebration making its first appearance down under.

BBL|15 kicks off in December, and Hasan Ali is officially on Australia’s radar. Ready or not, the fast bowler is bringing his fire to the Strikers’ blue.
