Drizzle Drops, Power Flops and K- Electric fails once again

Light Rain, Heavy Blackout: K-Electric Fails Karachi Once Again

A brief spell of light rain on evening plunged large parts of Karachi into darkness, once again raising serious concerns about K-Electric’s reliability and preparedness. Despite the drizzle being minimal, widespread power outages were reported across several districts of the city, including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, Saddar, Malir, and Korangi today.

Residents expressed frustration as the electricity went out within minutes of the rain starting, disrupting daily routines, affecting businesses, and leaving many without access to water due to non-functioning pumps.

This recurring issue during even the lightest rain has become a source of public outrage, especially as K-Electric continues to claim improvements in its infrastructure. Social media was flooded with sarcastic remarks and memes targeting the power utility, with one user quipping, “Just a drizzle, and K-Electric goes into hibernation!”

Despite repeated assurances, K-Electric has yet to provide a comprehensive explanation or long-term solution. Meanwhile, citizens brace themselves for more rain  and more darkness.
