An Institutional performance review in Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) using the RIPE standards by Higher Education Commission (HEC) successfully occurred on June 21 and 23, 2025. Director QEC, Dr. Abdul Wahid Usmani hosted the review, which was conducted in two days and aimed at judging the performance of the institution and the areas where it can improve.

JSMU was visited by a committee of the external reviewers in order to evaluate its work in accordance with 16 standards of the RIPE framework. This team comprised of Mr. Israr Ahmed Khan (Registrar, Baqai University), Mr. Syed Waqar ul Hassan (Director QEC, Saleem Habib University), Dr. Saeeda Junaid (Director QEC, Baqai Medical University) and Ms. Ambreen Asif Qureshi (Consultant, IntelAct).

The meticulous review involved document analysis, one to one involvement with the stakeholders and visits of the major academic and administrative units. The review team interviewed the deans, faculty, students and heads of institutions to get the first hand information.

Initial observations were shared by the committee during the exit meeting with the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Amjad Siraj Memon. They highlighted the purpose of the review by saying that it aimed at harmonizing the institution practices with international quality standards. Dr. Memon has also expressed thanks and stated that JSMU is committed to become better in the spheres of academic and governance.

Excellent and appreciable work was also done by the QEC team and the review committee as acclaimed by the Vice Chancellor him or herself.
