Convict Sentenced for Illegal Sale of Unregistered Medicines ‎

The Drug Court Rawalpindi has sentenced a man involved in the illegal sale of unregistered medicines to 19 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 101 million.

‎Judge Muhammad Faisal Butt of the Drug Court concluded the hearing of the case related to the unauthorized sale of unregistered medicines and sentenced the accused, Naseem Masih, to a total of 19 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 101 million.

‎The court awarded the convict 5 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 40 million for the illegal sale of medicines. In case of non-payment, an additional 15 months imprisonment was ordered.

‎For the sale of banned medicines, he was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 500,000, with an additional 3 months imprisonment in case of non-payment.

‎Under Section 28(1) of the Drug Act, the convict was awarded 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 60 million. Non-payment will result in an additional 2 years imprisonment.

‎Under Section 3, the court handed down a 2-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 500,000. In case of non-payment, an additional 3 months imprisonment was ordered.
