Chairman PPP Says: Islam Grants Women the Right to Choose Their Spouse, and the Constitution of Pakistan Guarantees Protection of This Right
Karachi — Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the brutal killing of a couple in Balochistan who married by choice. Expressing deep sorrow and anger over the incident, he denounced the murder, which has also gone viral through a video circulating on social media.
According to a press release issued by the Media Cell at Bilawal House, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari described those involved in the killing as “beasts” who deserve no leniency. He expressed hope that the perpetrators would soon be brought to justice.
He further emphasized that this act qualifies as gender-based terrorism and should serve as a test case for the Balochistan government. Bilawal Bhutto asserted that Islam permits women to choose their life partners, and the Constitution of Pakistan safeguards this fundamental right.
He reiterated that the PPP has a clear stance of zero tolerance for violence and discrimination against women. Reassuring women across the country, especially in Balochistan, Bilawal stated that the party of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto remains firmly committed to eliminating gender discrimination and ensuring the protection, empowerment, and progress of women throughout Pakistan.
