Despite ongoing vaccination efforts, the spread of polio in Pakistan remains a concern, as three new cases have been reported in a single day.

‎According to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), two cases have been confirmed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one from Sindh. The cases have emerged from North Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, and Umerkot.

‎NEOC stated that this brings the total number of polio cases in the country to 17 so far this year. The virus primarily affects children with weak immune systems. Authorities have warned that unvaccinated children pose a risk to others as well, emphasizing that repeated vaccination is the only way to prevent the disease.

‎Sources provided further details about the latest cases: a 15-month-old girl from UC Takhti Khel in Lakki Marwat, a 6-month-old girl from UC Mir Ali 3 in North Waziristan, and a 5-year-old boy from UC Khajhro in Umerkot, Sindh, have all tested positive for the virus.

‎So far this year, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 10 cases, Sindh 5, while Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan have each reported one case.
