A dangerous rise in AIDS cases has been observed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 481 new cases were reported during the first four months of 2026.

‎According to the provincial health department, the increase in AIDS patients has caused concern among medical experts, and the situation is being described as a major challenge.

‎Director of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa AIDS Control Program, Dr. Tariq Hayat, stated that after the new cases, the total number of affected individuals in the province has risen to 10,281, which was 9,800 last year.

‎According to the data, among those affected by AIDS, 7,178 are men, 2,381 are women, and 235 are transgender individuals. Meanwhile, 487 children under the age of 15 are also affected by the disease, reflecting the seriousness of the situation.

‎Health experts have warned that although treatment facilities are being provided, it is extremely necessary to further strengthen public awareness, precautionary measures, and timely diagnosis to prevent the spread of AIDS.
