A new study has found that the feature in Apple Watch that identifies signs of high blood pressure cannot replace a proper medical test.
Experts have warned that relying solely on this device for health alerts could be dangerous, as it may provide false reassurance.
They say people should continue to regularly check their blood pressure using a traditional blood pressure cuff machine.
Apple itself clarifies that its “high blood pressure notification feature” is not designed for diagnosing, treating, or monitoring any disease.
According to the company, this feature cannot be used to diagnose or manage conditions such as high blood pressure, blood clots, stroke, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, or cholesterol problems.
