Austria’s JESH Programme Opens Fully Funded Research Opportunities for Pakistani Scholars

 The Austrian Academy of Sciences (Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften, ÖAW) has opened applications for its Joint Excellence in Science and Humanities (JESH) Programme, offering fully funded international research opportunities for early-career researchers, including those from Pakistan.

The programme aims to promote international academic collaboration and strengthen research links between Austria and partner countries through short-term research mobility.

Programme Overview

JESH is a mobility-based fellowship initiative designed to support outstanding early-career researchers across all fields of science and humanities. It enables scholars from eligible countries to conduct research stays at Austrian universities and research institutions, as well as allows Austrian researchers to go abroad under the outgoing scheme.

Duration and Funding

Selected researchers will receive funding for a research stay of 1 to 6 months in Austria or partner countries. The programme covers:

  • Travel expenses
  • Accommodation
  • Living costs

Participants receive a monthly stipend of €2,700 (flat rate).

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Hold a PhD (completed within the last 10 years)
  • Be affiliated with a university or research institution
  • Belong to one of the eligible countries, including Pakistan
  • Demonstrate strong academic and research potential

  • Deadline: 7 July 2026
  • Applications must be submitted in English
  • Required documents include CV, research proposal, and host institution confirmation
  • Selection is based on academic excellence and project quality

Objective of the Programme

The JESH initiative is designed to enhance global scientific cooperation, promote knowledge exchange, and support long-term academic partnerships between Austria and participating countries.
