Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has made a strong comeback into the top 3 of ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, following a string of consistent performances in recent matches.
The former captain, who had temporarily dropped out of the top five earlier this year due to a rough patch in form, bounced back with clinical knocks against top-tier sides in both league and international fixtures. Cricket analysts credit his return to form to a noticeable shift in his batting strategy — particularly his improved strike rotation, quicker acceleration in middle overs, and sharp finishing ability.
Under the guidance of the new coaching panel, Babar’s approach seems more aggressive without compromising his signature elegance. “He’s finding gaps earlier in the innings now, which is creating pressure on the bowlers. That’s what makes a world-class T20 batter,” said former cricketer and analyst Rashid Latif.
With the T20 World Cup just a few months away, Babar’s return to top form comes as a major boost for Pakistan. His experience and anchor role are expected to play a key part in Pakistan’s batting line-up on the global stage.
Babar now sits at number 3, just behind India’s Suryakumar Yadav and England’s Jos Buttler.
