ISLAMABAD, October 14, 2026: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has approached National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, seeking protection for party lawmakers and the issuance of production orders for detained members.
The request comes amid heightened political tensions following the imposition of emergency measures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the detention of several PTI leaders and supporters.
Separately, PTI Chief Whip Amir Dogar has asked the speaker to issue production orders for nine detained party lawmakers so they can attend parliamentary proceedings. The request refers to Rule 108 of the National Assembly’s Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business, 2007.
Barrister Gohar has also questioned the breakdown of political negotiations, arguing that the arrest of elected representatives has undermined efforts to resolve the dispute through dialogue.
The speaker’s response to the latest request, and whether production orders will be issued, remain key developments to watch.
