Amritsar, Punjab — October 10, 2025:
Renowned Punjabi actor and professional bodybuilder Varinder Singh Ghuman passed away after suffering a heart attack at a private hospital in Amritsar. He was 42.
According to Indian media reports, Ghuman had been admitted to Fortis Hospital earlier this week due to shoulder pain. His family confirmed that he underwent a successful shoulder surgery and was recovering well. However, his condition deteriorated suddenly when his heartbeat became irregular, leading to cardiac arrest. Despite doctors’ efforts, he could not be revived.
His nephew, Amanjot Singh Ghuman, confirmed the tragic news, saying, “He was feeling fine after the operation. None of us expected this to happen. It’s a huge loss for our family and his fans.”
Varinder Singh Ghuman was one of India’s most celebrated bodybuilders and was internationally recognized as the world’s first vegetarian professional bodybuilder. He had represented India in several bodybuilding competitions and was known for promoting fitness and vegetarianism across the country.
In addition to his achievements in bodybuilding, Ghuman successfully transitioned into acting. He appeared in several Punjabi and Bollywood films, including Kabaddi Once Again (2012), Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans (2014), Marjaavaan (2019), and most notably alongside Salman Khan in Tiger 3 (2023).
Salman Khan and several members of the film and fitness fraternity expressed grief over his passing. Many took to social media to share their condolences, describing him as a “gentle giant” and “a true inspiration for fitness lovers.”
Born and raised in Gurdaspur, Punjab, Varinder Singh Ghuman’s journey from a small-town gym enthusiast to an internationally known athlete and actor inspired countless young people across India.
He is survived by his family and fans who remember him not only for his incredible physique but also for his humility and discipline — qualities that made him stand out both on and off screen.
