Bollywood has once again come under fire for copying a popular Pakistani song, this time reusing Bol Kaffara in its upcoming film Deewane Ki Deewangi.
The track, originally composed and sung in Pakistan, had previously been recreated by Indian playback singer Jubin Nautiyal, sparking debate over intellectual property and cross-border borrowing. In the latest version, Bollywood singers Neha Kakkar, Farhan Sabri, and DJ Chetas have lent their voices, while the composition also incorporates lines from legendary qawwal Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s classic Bollywood track Dulhe Ka Sehra.
The release has drawn backlash on social media, where Pakistani users accused the Indian industry of hypocrisy — criticizing Pakistan on one hand while borrowing its creative content on the other. “They call Pakistan names but continue to steal our music,” one user wrote. Another commenter sarcastically remarked that actress Sonam Bajwa seemed to dedicate the song “from IAF to PAF.”
This is not the first time Bollywood has faced criticism for lifting Pakistani music. Over the years, several hit tracks from Pakistan have been reproduced in Indian films without giving due credit to the original creators, fueling tensions between fans across the border.
