In Chilas, a city in Gilgit-Baltistan, cases of stomach-related illnesses have significantly increased in the flood-affected area of Thak Nala due to the consumption of contaminated water.
The only medical camp set up for the local population is now facing a severe shortage of medicines.
Ijaz Khan, the in-charge of the medical camp, stated that the area’s only Basic Health Unit was completely destroyed in the floods. A temporary medical camp has since been set up in a tent.
He further added that stomach diseases are spreading rapidly in the aftermath of the flood, and the existing stock of medicines has run out. Additional supplies have been requested from the local administration.
