Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that civilized societies around the world try to protect themselves from diseases.
Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal visited the new 200 bed Accident and Emergency Department at PIMS Hospital.
On this occasion, Federal health Minister Mustafa Kamal said that we are standing in the new trauma center emergency ward of PIMS. When PIMS was built, the population was 20 percent less; today it has increased many times. People from half of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir come here.
He said that the old emergency ward had only 36 beds, while the new emergency has 177 beds and 4 operation theaters. The new emergency department has been built at a cost of 6.5 billion rupees. We need to protect ourselves from falling ill; prevention is better than cure. The government alone cannot do everything.
He said that civilized societies try to protect themselves from diseases. After the 18th Amendment, the health sector was transferred to the provinces. Health and education are with the provinces and should remain with the provinces. Discussions have been held about bringing the Population Ministry and the national curriculum under the federal government.
Mustafa Kamal said that it is the job of councilors and elected representatives to ensure cleanliness in neighborhoods, supply clean water, and improve the local health system. You must build a solid local government system that also protects people from diseases.
The federal health minister said that today we stand in lines for visas to go abroad. Those nations completed 500 years ago the tasks that we are doing today. London, New York, and Shanghai cannot run even for a day without a mayor. Here, such an active and effective system does not exist, and this needs to be discussed.
