A significant increase has been observed in the number of patients suffering from super flu, influenza, and other viral infections across several districts of Punjab, including Lahore, adding further pressure to an already strained public healthcare system.

‎According to a report by the Health Department, during the past week nearly 45,000 patients were treated at six major government hospitals in Lahore for complaints such as flu, chest infections, pneumonia, and fever, reflecting the alarming spread of seasonal and viral infections.

‎At Mayo Hospital, more than 10,000 patients reported with flu, cough, fever, and breathing difficulties, while over 8,000 patients sought treatment at Jinnah Hospital. Services Hospital, Lahore General Hospital, and the Children’s Hospital each received around 7,500 patients, while more than 6,000 cases were recorded at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, many of whom were suffering from severe respiratory illnesses.

‎Hospital sources said that the rush of patients has increased in OPDs and emergency wards, and doctors along with paramedical staff are facing difficulties in managing the growing numbers.

‎Medical experts said the surge is due to the rapid spread of super flu, influenza, and other viral infections during seasonal changes, and citizens have been advised to adopt precautionary measures.
