Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, paid rich tribute to the martyred lawyers of the August 8, 2016 Quetta tragedy, vowing that the sacrifices of the Quetta Civil Hospital attack martyrs will never be in vain.
He said the day serves as a reminder of the lawyers’ unparalleled sacrifice in the fight against extremism and terrorism, and reaffirmed that his government will not compromise on the sanctity of the martyrs’ blood. “We will not leave the families of the martyrs alone, and their rights will be defended at every level,” he pledged, adding that the nefarious designs of anti-peace elements will be thwarted through national unity.
Highlighting the role of the Balochistan Bar and the legal fraternity, the CM called their sacrifice a shining example of upholding democratic values, noting that Balochistan has been at the forefront in the war against terrorism.
Bugti acknowledged that the lawyers lost their protectors in the tragedy, but the government has stood by their children to help them rebuild their lives. Under the BEEF Lawyers’ Scholarship Scheme, 188 children of martyrs are receiving quality education of their choice on full scholarships.
“This is not just financial assistance,” he said, “but a solemn pledge to carry forward the martyrs’ legacy and fulfill the dreams they left behind for future generations.”
