Congo Virus Claims Another Life at PIMS Hospital

‎A patient infected with the Congo virus has died at PIMS Hospital in Islamabad. This marks the first Congo related death in Punjab this year and the fifth nationwide.

‎According to reports, the 35-year-old butcher from Hazara Colony, Rawalpindi, was initially admitted to a local hospital due to illness. Upon showing symptoms such as bleeding and other signs of Congo virus, he was shifted to PIMS Hospital.

‎The National Institute of Health (NIH) confirmed the cause of death was the Congo virus. The patient died just four hours after being admitted to PIMS.

‎Sources stated that the patient was buried under strict safety protocols under the supervision of the Rawalpindi health department. His family members are also being monitored.

‎According to official data, this is the first Congo virus death reported in Punjab this year. So far, 33 cases have been confirmed, and five resulting in fatalities.
