Australia’s Pat Cummins and Travis Head have turned down a AUD $10 million offer from the Indian Premier League in order to prioritise national commitments.
According to Australian media, a franchise group from the IPL approached both cricketers earlier this year, during the tournament, with an offer to leave Australian cricket and join T20 leagues instead. Each was offered AUD $10 million.
The offer was declined. Both players chose to represent their country over pursuing the opportunity abroad.
Australian media reported that the IPL management has begun to approach overseas players with large financial offers. The aim, according to reports, is to attract them away from international commitments in favour of league participation.
Despite the significant offer, Cummins and Head opted for national duty and dismissed the proposal made by the IPL group.
