Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that those involved in the May 9 incidents, along with their facilitators, will have to face the law.
Speaking to journalists, he clarified that an article written by journalist Sohail Warriach was based on an event in Brussels where hundreds of people took photographs, and that Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir did not give any interview. He said there was no mention of PTI or any apology, calling the article a personal publicity attempt by the journalist.
The DG ISPR said Pakistan is a country capable of reshaping the region’s destiny, which is why it faces constant attacks. He emphasized that young people must understand the legacy of their ideological state. He added that India and its proxies had tried to discredit Pakistan’s army but failed, as the military and the nation responded strongly on both fronts.
He further said the consensus decision made in 2014 by all political parties to eliminate terrorism has yet to be fully implemented. Whenever action is taken to deport illegal Afghan nationals involved in crimes, political and criminal elements within the country raise objections, he noted.
Stressing the importance of fully implementing the 14 points of the National Action Plan, he declared Pakistan’s people as its greatest asset and added that gaps in governance are being filled every day through the sacrifices of the armed forces, police, and law enforcement agencies.
