‎A new study has revealed that smoking only two cigarettes a day can also prove to be deadly.

‎Scientists from Johns Hopkins University in the United States said that low-intensity smoking can increase the risk of early death by up to 60 percent.

‎By examining 20 years of data from 300,000 people, the study found that even light smokers face severe health risks similar to those of regular smokers.

‎According to the study, compared to non smokers, smokers have a 50 percent higher chance of developing heart diseases.

‎The research also stated that smoking 2 to 5 cigarettes daily is equivalent to smoking one or two packs per week and is considered “low intensity smoking.”

‎According to the study, an average smoker in the United Kingdom smokes 11 cigarettes per day.

‎Researchers warned that reducing the number of cigarettes is not enough to avoid the health damage caused by smoking. Smoking is extremely harmful, and even light smoking carries major risks, so it is essential to quit smoking as early as possible.

‎The study further found that smoking causes more than a dozen types of cancer, as well as heart disease and dementia.
