FAISALABAD: The man popularly known as “Ustad Qamar,” who gained online fame for organizing fights between a rat and a mongoose, was briefly detained by Faisalabad police and later released with a warning.

According to officials, the arrest followed a video that resurfaced on social media, showing the young man staging a fight between the two animals to attract online attention. Police initiated action against him for cruelty to animals but released him after it was confirmed that the footage was recorded nearly a year and a half ago.

During questioning, Ustad Qamar expressed regret over his actions and apologized publicly to the Punjab Police. In a new video message, he promised not to harm animals again and announced that he had given up his previous work of catching rats.

Qamar further stated that, at his family’s request, he had started a job at a local thread factory and urged people not to associate him with his former occupation anymore.
