SANGHAR: A court in Shahdadpur on Friday issued orders regarding four Hindu youths who recently embraced Islam, following allegations of abduction and forced conversion. The case, heard by Additional and Sessions Judge Aijaz Ali Chandio, involved three Hindu sisters and their male cousin.
The controversy began when the families of the youths alleged that the four had been abducted from Shahdadpur and forcibly converted in Karachi. The police later recovered them from Karachi and presented them in court, along with their parents and Rajesh Kumar Hardasani, head of the local Hindu Panchayat.
During the hearing, all four individuals Jiya Bai, Diya Bai, Disha Bai, and Harjeet Kumar testified under oath that they had embraced Islam of their own free will in 2024 and denied any coercion or force.
After considering the statements, the court allowed two of the girls Jiya Bai and Diya Bai, both medical students to stay at a shelter home in Karachi. However, the court ordered that 15-year old Disha Bai, a matric student, and 13 year old Harjeet Kumar be returned to their families, as they are minors.
In view of the voluntary statements, the judge also cleared two individuals, Zulfiqar Khaskheli and Farhan, of all kidnapping charges.
