France has confirmed its first case linked to the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

‎According to French authorities, the infected individual is a doctor who had returned from a humanitarian mission in an affected area of the Congo. The patient was immediately isolated and transferred to a specialized medical center, where his condition is reported to be stable.

‎French authorities have begun contact tracing of individuals who were in close contact with the patient, while health experts have stated that the risk to the general public remains extremely low.

‎Meanwhile, the recent Ebola outbreak in the Congo has infected more than 1,000 people so far, while over 260 individuals have lost their lives.

‎According to health experts, a major reason behind the spread of the outbreak is the rare Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus, for which there is currently no approved vaccine available.

‎The World Health Organization has warned that ongoing conflict and poor security conditions in eastern Congo are posing major obstacles to efforts aimed at controlling the outbreak.

‎The French government has implemented special monitoring measures for aid workers returning from affected areas and has assured that strict safety and biosafety protocols are being followed to prevent local transmission of the virus.
