KARACHI
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across parts of Sindh, including Karachi, on Sunday evening, cautioning that the spell could trigger urban flooding in low-lying neighborhoods of the metropolis.
According to the Met Office, residents in Karachi should brace for strong showers in the evening, while light to moderate rain is also expected around the outskirts of the city. The weather forecast for the next 24 hours suggests partly cloudy skies, with maximum temperatures ranging between 33°C and 35°C, and the minimum hovering around 27.5°C.
The department further explained that a low-pressure system developing over India’s Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan has strengthened, pushing moisture towards Sindh. This system, officials warned, may cause intense downpours in several cities, raising the risk of flash and urban flooding in vulnerable areas.
Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious, especially in flood-prone parts of Karachi, as emergency teams prepare for possible waterlogging and traffic disruptions.
