KARACHI: Pakistani actress and social media personality Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead in her apartment in Karachi’s DHA Phase VI, police confirmed Tuesday. Her body was discovered in a decomposed state, with investigators estimating she had died nearly three weeks earlier.
The grim discovery came during an eviction operation, when the landlord, accompanied by a court bailiff and police, arrived at the flat located in Ittehad Commercial area to enforce a court-ordered eviction due to unpaid rent. According to officials, she had not paid rent since 2024, despite residing there since 2018.
Gizri Police Station SHO Farooq Sanjrani said the flat’s main door was locked from the inside, prompting police to break it open. Inside, officers found her body lying in one of the rooms. Due to the advanced stage of decomposition, forensic experts believe she had been dead for 20 to 25 days.
The Crime Scene Unit collected evidence from the apartment before the body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for postmortem examination. Police noted there were no signs of forced entry or immediate evidence of foul play, suggesting she may have died of natural causes, though the exact cause of death awaits the autopsy report.
In a shocking development, Humaira’s father refused to claim her body, leaving it in the custody of hospital authorities. The flat has been sealed, and further investigation is underway.
