In Ranchi, India defeated South Africa by 17 runs in a thrilling first ODI. Chasing India’s 349, South Africa fought hard but were bowled out for 332 in 49.2 overs.

The top order collapsed early—Markram scored 7, while Rickelton and de Kock fell for ducks. However, Breetzke (72), Marco Jansen (70 off 39), and Corbin Bosch (67) kept South Africa alive in the chase. Tony de Zorzi added a useful 39, with Dewald Brevis contributing 37 runs.

For India, Kuldeep Yadav starred with 4 wickets, while Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh delivered crucial breakthroughs at key moments. Despite South Africa staying in the game till late, the final collapse sealed India’s victory.
