Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has accused the Justice Against Autocracy and Corruption (JAAC) of operating in tandem with Indian interests to orchestrate a coordinated anti-state propaganda campaign. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, the minister claimed the group is being utilized to destabilize Pakistan’s international reputation.

Tarar alleged that the narrative being pushed by the organization aligns directly with hostile intelligence objectives across the border. He pointed to what he described as a “deliberate synchronization” between the group’s overseas activities and anti-Pakistan social media trends.

“This isn’t organic activism,” Tarar told reporters. “We have evidence linking their funding streams and operational timelines to entities in India that are actively working to undermine our sovereignty.”

The government has been under mounting pressure to counter a surge in digital disinformation campaigns, which officials say have spiked following recent political volatility. Tarar warned that the state is prepared to take legal action against any local facilitators providing “logistical or narrative support” to these foreign-backed efforts.

While the minister stopped short of detailing specific legal filings, he emphasized that the Foreign Office and security agencies are currently compiling a dossier to present at international forums. The goal, he noted, is to expose the nexus to global observers who may be unaware of the group’s alleged external affiliations.

This latest escalation in rhetoric highlights the government’s growing anxiety over the reach of diaspora-led activism. For the ruling coalition, the challenge lies in distinguishing between legitimate political dissent and what they define as a calculated campaign of subversion.

As the government moves to formalize its complaint, the effectiveness of this crackdown remains unclear. Critics argue that blaming external actors often serves to deflect from internal governance failures, yet the Information Minister remains firm. He insists that the state will no longer remain a silent spectator while its national image is systematically dismantled from abroad.
